Universal is OFFICIALLY joining the game!
For 25 years, the theme parks of Universal Orlando Resort have brought adventure, fun and excitement through notable attractions like Universal Studios Florida or in the Islands of Adventure like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the all new Skull Island -- Reign of Kong.
In May, the theme park announced its partnership with Nintendo for all new theme park attractions, bringing the games and characters people knew and loved to life in an all new way. Now, we finally get more details surrounding the highly anticipated partnership.
The Nintendo-themed attractions will be built in Universal Studios Japan, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. Over the next couple of years, the parks will open these areas separately, but the creative teams and planning are already in the works.
The partnership is promising to make "you feel as if you're playing inside your favorite games in real life." The attractions aim to be "expansive, immersive and interactive" with a set up similar to other Universal attractions, featuring shops, restaurants and other sorts of "authentic" attractions.
Nintendo has said the characters will be used by Universal to immerse people into the games they enjoy to capture the "adventure, fun and whimsy."
There have been no announcements of which characters they will be using in the attractions or if the same characters will be used in each park. We can expect the iconic plumber in red to show up based on the sneak peak that was just released in the video below. Nintendo promises that, even if you're not an avid player, "there will be something for everyone."
