Laurie Metcalf Joining Bruce Willis On Broadway

Laurie Metcalf joins Bruce Willis in ‘Misery’ coming to Broadway after his leading lady had to pull out.

Bruce Willis will be making his Broadway debut in ‘Misery’ and originally had Elizabeth Marvel as his costar.  However, Marvel had to pull out due to a scheduling conflict.  She’s been replaced by Laurie Metcalf who is a Tony winning actress and has guest starred on The Big Bang Theory.

Metcalf will play Annie Wilkes, a super fan of Willis’ character, who essentially rescues him then holds him hostage.  She’s angered because his manuscript kills off her favorite character whose name is Misery.  Willis will play novelist Paul Sheldon.  The play was written by William Goldman and will debut this fall.

‘Misery’ will take the stage once ‘Mamma Mia’ finishes its run.  The show will be an adaptation from a 1990 movie starring Kathy Bates and James Caan of the same title.  Maybe we should all watch that first so we know what’s coming.

Are you excited to see Bruce Willis make his stage debut?
