In a recent interview with Elle,
Lea Michele revealed an unexpected source of support and relief that came to her aid following the tragic passing of on and off-screen love, Cory Monteith: Kate Hudson.
Hudson portrayed Michele’s semi-evil NYADA dance instructor, Cassandra July, on last season of Glee.
When Michele felt the need to flee the scrutiny of the public and paparazzi, she phoned Hudson, who offered her a safe haven to escape the pressure.
"I called [Kate Hudson] and said, ‘I don't know where I'm going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters],'" Michele remembered. "She was like, ‘Oh, you're going to stay at my house.' Like it was nothing. No one knew I was there. I'll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me."

Michele also spoke a bit about what life after Cory means to her, and how she has discovered her own strength and perseverance through this unspeakably tragic ordeal.
"I never thought I would be in this position in my whole life," the beautiful star explained. "Now that I am in this position, you can choose to rise, and that's what I'm going to try to do. I know that Cory would want nothing more than for me to take this situation and use it to help people."
Cory passed away in July while staying in a Vancouver hotel. To the shock and dismay of an entire fandom, a mixed drug toxicity was the official cause of death. The demons that ultimately took Cory’s life were ones that friends and family had thought he had conquered.
Michele remained silent for a long while after Cory’s death; mourning silently and trying to fight through the pain. Her first documented commented was to TV Week Australia
, saying that, "I really woke up every single day feeling like I was being in some sort of spell or something, that I was lucky enough to have him in my life. I feel like what happened with [Monteith's death] was [miniscule] in the scheme of who he was and his life."

She finished that thought by saying that, “There was no greater man than Cory, so for the time we spent together I consider myself very lucky.”
The couple had been dating since early 2012, after Michele ended her relationship with longtime beau, Theo Stockman.
