Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has enjoyed its first weekend at the box office with a lot of different perspectives towards the great DC superhero match-up fans have waited for.
For viewers with a sharp eye and a great attention to detail, Batman v Superman also revealed a quick tease of the possible arrival of one hell of a bad guy - Darkseid.
Although people are still processing the movie, a deleted scene has just been leaked to show that Darkseid might be the huge villain the entire Justice League team will face off against in their debut ensemble movie.
This short clip shows the FBI going to arrest Lex Luthor before his appearance at the end of Batman v Superman; however as the FBI forces look over the pit where Doomsday was created, a severely intense looking demon creature is standing in front of Lex with three cubes. The creature lets out some sort of ungodly sound before breaking up into little pieces and disappearing, cubes and all.
Before Luthor turns to face his captors, he seems to break out of the trance like state that he was in and seems slightly disoriented before looking up at the agents. The final look on his face before the scene cuts out gives no indication of what Luthor's mind is currently at.
Due to Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Luthor in the DC Cinematic Universe, Luthor is full on creepy and could very well know what he's doing (as possibly indicated by his final conversation with Batman at the end), or he might have just lost consciousness during the entire event.
If Luthor has communicated with Darkseid, the creature from DC's hell known as Apokolips, this is definitely going to be a fight that the Justice League needs to be ready for.
There is some speculation that the three boxes are Mother Boxes, which are devices of great power created by Apokolips' inhabitants. More importantly, these boxes can be the key to how Darkseid appears in this universe. This deleted scene, the significance of these boxes, and Luthor's ominous warning about the universe hearing about the battle all possibly indicate that this villain is going to be causing hell on Earth.
Darkseid is a hugely problematic potential bad guy for a few reasons. If you're not familiar, Darkseid's debut in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen No. 134, as a villain who was searching for the "Anti-Life Equation," which would allow him to eradicate free will in the entire universe. He's so powerful that people fight on his behalf, but to make things even more interesting, he's a mild tempered being. A more thorough explanation of Darkseid can be found here.
So what are your thoughts on this deleted scene? Do you think he's an appropriate villain for the Justice League? Do you hate the idea?
