Sony’s massive hack has been the gift that keeps on giving for such a while now. Apart from a bunch of unreleased films that first surfaced online, the details included in the emails leaked reveal the most exciting of things and these ones spill the beans
on Spider-Man’s future and Marvel’s involvement.
As revealed, Sony can’t really cope with Spider-Man at this very moment. Yes, they do have the rights and everything, but they can’t figure out what to do with him. Even though Andrew Garfield has signed to star in the third installment of the series, things might just change right after that. Reportedly, Sony could work on a deal with Marvel to give Spidey back and if that takes place, the latter is going to recast the character and start over with him.
Sony is currently looking for
extremely talented directors who could possibly save the Spider-Man franchise, including the likes of Brad Bird, Damien Chazelle, James Gunn and David Yates. It is marked that the storyline could follow the Kraven’s Last Hunt way from the comic books, while it could also give the approach of a grown-up Peter Parker who has been fighting crime for years. With other discussions also taking place, talks with Marvel might have not come to a conclusion just yet, but Sony’s executives are looking for ways to make a collaboration happen.
Nothing has been officially confirmed just yet, but things are definitely shaky when it comes to Spider-Man’s future. In any case though, Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3
is still expected to drop in 2018. In addition to that, Venom
and Sinister Six
also remain in the works. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens with those and what the next chapter will be in the superhero’s story.
