Lamar Odom has been the focus of many headlines this week, with rumors swirling around about his drug addiction and problems going on in his marriage.
The latest news is that the basketball star is being sued for an incident that happened with paparazzi, Stefan Saad, back in July, who had been asking him whether he had cheated on wife, Khloe Kardashian.
That’s when Odom took a large metal rod to smash the photographer’s car, then took his camera out and continued to smash it in the middle of the street. Lamar then drove off with the damaged camera in his own car.
L.A City Attorney’s office had dropped all the charges, so it didn’t seem to remain in the public eye, as the two would discuss the matter later on. Odom would only have to take care of the damages done to Saad’s camera – but, like most cases with celebrities, people like to take advantage of kicking them when they’re down.
“The Kardashian clan has apparently come to believe that it is above the law, and has some exceptional privilege to disregard the rights of others and even attack the person, property and livelihood of those who dare to publicize that the Kardashian clan are not only wealthy and attractive – but also deeply flawed,” says Saad in the court documents that E! News released.
He also continues to say that he doesn’t think Lamar just got carried away, since he was “calm enough to pause, smile and take a picture with a fawning fan.”
Saad goes on to say that he thinks he was taking pointers from sister-in-law, Kim’s boyfriend, Kanye West, on how to handle the media.
The photographer is asking for at least $15,000 to take care of his damaged equipment, $50,000 for the work he lost on his previous camera, and around $500,000 for the emotional stress he has been under for the last few months. He is suing for his “emotional distress with physical manifestations, panic attacks and the onset of panic disorder.”
Khloe Kardashian Odom tweeted, trying to defend Lamar’s actions, but Stefan Saad seems to think she “defamed him.”
Hopefully they will be able to come to an agreement on something so things won’t get too messy for Lamar and his family.
