Leonardo DiCaprio is a hot, eco-friendly actor, but he is also a producer. Movies like the Wolf of Wall Street and documentaries like Before the Flood are just a couple blockbusters to his name. However, another film may steal the show -- literally.
The legendary actor will produce his own adaptation of the story Robin Hood. According to Deccan Chronicle, Leonardo DiCaprio and crew are filming in Croatia. "According to a local Croatia media, Croatia Week, filming of the action film 'Robin Hood: Origins' started on Monday, in Dubrovnik, which is transformed into medieval Nottingham," the article reads.
Aside from the movie's location, it has other exciting aspects. A slew of popular actors will star in Robin Hood: Origins. People like Jamie Foxx, Jamie Dornan, and Eve Hewson are reported to be on set. Jamie Foxx will play Little John; Jamie Dornan will play Will Scarlett; Eve Hewson will play Maid Marion. The cast differs from previous adaptations, but the plot will still share remnants of Robin Hood's premise.
The other producer, Basil Iwaynk, says the movie is rooted in action, adventure, and suspense.
"I feel that it captures the adventure and the fun and the spirit of Robin Hood, but because it's the origin story -- it's a kid going off to war thinking he's going on a great Crusade ... [yet] coming back to a fractured society that doesn't really accept him and realizing, 'Okay, the super rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer,'" he states.
The film is set to premiere next year, but, until then, check out other famous adaptations.
GameSpot reports, "The story of Robin Hood has been told numerous times...Russell Crowe played the character for 2010's Ridley Scott-directed Robin Hood. Kevin Costner also played the character, for 1991's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
While the adaptations are amazing, there is still one movie nobody can forget: the 1973 cartoon of Robin Hood. Before Robin Hood: Origins hits theaters, don't forget about the fox who stole it all.
