LEx Lidia Drops New Single “Diamond Girl” & Its Video

“I was inspired to write the song as a serenade to a dream of what could be.”

LEx Lidia began singing in his school choir and joined an acapella group in junior high. From there, his passion for music and performing only flourished. Today, there are perhaps few artists that can genuinely say they are truly hands on when it comes to their profession and career, but 19-year-old artist and multi-instrumentalist LEx is one of them. As a self-taught producer and engineer, he takes the reigns with his music, adding truly personal touches to everything he creates, honing his skills more and more every time he sets to work on creating a piece to share with the world.

Having written, recorded and shared songs in both English and Spanish, LEx is also an artist whose work transcends both culture and genre, while having an all but global reach. His lyrics read and play like stories, with each track he releases coming from a personal lyrical stand-point while in terms of style, he’s become rather well known for blending hip-hop with pop. Nowhere is this perhaps more evident than on his new single “Diamond Girl”, which dropped today. While many songs are written about or inspired by a love, this one is more focused on the lack of it. The video for the track was directed Matt Alonzo, who has created videos for the likes of Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, and features appearances from over a dozen TikTok influencers who between them have a multi-million following.

LEx shares of the song: “I recorded Diamond Girl in Philly with record producer Jahlil Beats. The first night we were working together, we listened through beats and we all thought I was going to record a hip hop record. I hopped in the booth and did some freestyles but none of us were really feeling it. That night I heard the beat of what has become Diamond Girl and immediately the chorus melody came to me at the studio. I went back to my hotel that night and wrote the entire song. That writing session alone in my hotel changed the course of my entire trip. I was inspired to write the song as a serenade to a dream of what could be. Let’s just say I haven’t been very active in the dating game as much as I wish. This is where Diamond Girl came from, expressing my feelings for an absence of a girl in my life.”
