If you been a fan of Once Upon A Time ever since its very beginning, then you know that one of the biggest flaws the show has is its blatant lack of representation regarding the LGBT community.

But while speaking with EWOUAT's executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis revealed that they have plans to explore a same-sex romance in Season 5.

“We know that community have been big supporters of the show and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that,” Kitsis said.

“We want the show to reflect the world as it is now,” added Horowitz. “Whether that’s going to be with any particular character, we’re not going to say.”

Many fans are already speculating that the focus will be on Mulan and Aurora's relationship, which is nothing to be surprised about. In season 3, episode 3, Mulan implies that she has romantic feelings towards Aurora, but when she's about to confess them, Aurora reveals that she's pregnant and, because of that information, Mulan decides to just say goodbye and go join Robin's band of merry men. And since Mulan has been confirmed to appear in several episodes of Season 5, fans of Sleeping Warrior--the ship name for Aurora and Mulan's relationship--are feeling more hopeful than ever.

Another possibility is that the relationship that will be explored will involve new characters from Camelot--hopefully featuring Arthur and Lancelot. Although, what many of the show's fans really want is for the creators to realize that Emma and Regina's relationship is the most captivating character dynamic that Once Upon A Time has to offer. Exploring Swan Queen's--Emma Swan and the Evil Queen--relationship in a romantic way would portray what many of the current modern families go through, and a shift in that direction would certainly be received with open arms.

No matter the couple involved, though, this will be the first LGBT relationship portrayed on the show, and I'm excited to see what they have to offer when Once Upon A Time returns with its 5th season this Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
