If you thought that bling on Miley's finger was an indication of something, you would be wrong. Liam Hemsworth went on record with Australia's TV Week to confirm that, no, he and Miley are not engaged.
"I am not engaged, no," he said, not really entertaining the issue much further.
Although the on-again, off-again couple is not engaged, they seem pretty happy with the way things are at the moment. According to sources, Miley has been spending more time with the Hemsworth family, and even attended Chris Hemsworth's Huntsman premiere.
Miley and Liam had lunch with his parents before heading to LA to see Liam's older brother at the Huntsman: Winters War screening. Some fans even say they saw "Miam" holding hands.
Because friends can't hold hands in public. Nope, not allowed.
Since the couple never officially proposed the second time around, a story we reported back in January, it really comes as no surprise that they broke it off again. Out of sight, out of mind – but not the public eye.
The two have certainly had a whirlwind friend-mance (that's what the kids are calling it these days, right?). The two met in 2010 and announced their first engagement in 2012 – then split up a year later.
Then we have the reports of Miley moving into the Hemsworth home in Malibu, and sporting their former engagement ring at their New Year's Eve party. But there was little fuss made about the 3.5 carat ring, and the pair has otherwise kept a relatively low profile.
"I just don't leave my home for the last few months because I had a back injury I really couldn't do much," Liam added of how he's avoided the spotlight recently. "So I have honestly been at my house most of the time."
Of course, it's hard to keep a low profile when you're a former Hunger Games star and a famous singer. But according to Liam, it just comes with the territory. The important thing is that he and Miley know the truth about where they stand: just friends.
"It is what it is and I am not someone who is looking for any more attention that I have and I try not to draw attention in any way," he says. "I don't do things that do draw attention. So most of the time I fly under the radar. There is a lot of attention there but I did have a helicopter flying over my house for a while."
What say you, PopStars? Are they just friends, or flying below the Hollywood radar?
