After much speculation, it's been kind of-sort of confirmed that Zayn Malik's longtime lady, Perrie Edwards (Little Mix), is essentially the reason he decided to leave One Direction.

This morning (May 20), just days after Liam Payne's very public display of brotherhood at the Billboard Music Awards, Payne spoke about Zayn's departure from the group on London's Capital FM.

Liam went on to say that, of course, Zayn is missed but explained that Zayn's decision to leave the band was no different than anyone else's decision to quit their job...

"I mean you know, he had to do what he had to do really, for himself. It’s like any other job really; sometimes you have to move on because you’re not enjoying what you’re doing as much."

His response seemed rather cookie-cutter until spilled the beans, when asked about how Zayn broke the news to the boys he alluded to the fact that there was some sort of sit down in which Zayn gave his reasons for leaving.

“He wanted to go and spend some time with his family and missus," Payne, stated.

And there you have it, THE TRUTH.

I think most One Direction fans and pop culture enthusiasts assumed that Perrie Edwards may have pulled a Yoko Ono on One Direction BUT now it's pretty much been confirmed.

Since his split from 1D, Zayn has been seen gallivanting around with his missus, in the studio with music producer Naughty Boy and beefing with his former bandmate, Louis Tomlinson, on Twitter...

Despite all the internet drama, Liam insisted the remainder of 1D are still “great mates” and wish Zayn nothing but the best.

“We’re just going to carry on doing what we’re doing… We wish him [Zayn] all the best with whatever he goes into and stuff. We’ll just have to see what happens.”
