As we reported yesterday, it was announced that a sequel for the much loved holiday film It's A Wonderful Life was happening. Today, we take a look back at the magic of the original with new photos. LIFE magazine has revealed 13 rare, never-before-seen photos from Frank Capra’s 1946 movie set, featuring first and foremost the snowy landscape of Bedford Falls. Capra noted early on that he didn’t just want standard prop snow (corn flakes painted white). No! He wanted real—or at least a close look alike—snow! Thus Capra worked closely with his prop department to develop the revolutionary snow-making process. This process, first employed in It’s a Wonderful Life, allowed film makers to control different types of snowfall during filming. But why should we simply tell you all about it? You need to see it to believe it! You can see LIFE’s top choice of set pictures in the gallery below!
