Staff WriterArrow fans saw a pivotal story arc this past December, with the introduction of Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin). Since the two episode arc, rumors of The Flash spin-off series have cooled and gone silent. However, this past weekend saw the release of The Iris West Audition Tapes on YouTube, with actress Abby Wake auditioning for the role. The videos, which have since been removed from YouTube, show Wake reading dialogue from what may or may not be the pilot script of the new series. Since the video was removed from the web, it has struck curiosity amongst fans of the Scarlet Speedster.
**** Possible The Flash Spoilers Ahead ****From the dialogue used in the audition tapes, it appears that the story will pick up after Allen’s accident with Central City’s particle accelerator. S.T.A.R. Labs, who was responsible for the accelerator, is said to be turning the machine back on, which may or may not create more superheroes or possibly supervillains. It also appears that The Flash will make a reference to Arrow in the pilot and to events that occurred in his two-episode arc, which let’s face it, makes sense, since Allen was on the phone with Felicity Smoak just before the accident occurred. Gathered from the tapes, the character in which Wakes read for is the love interest of Allen, and also makes a hint at the classic Flash villain, The Trickster. This of course, has not been confirmed by Warner Bros Television or DC Entertainment, so it could all be road kill. With the excitement of The Flash small screen premier, a big screen version of the DC Comics character has been put on hold. It was said that Arrow series creator and executive producer Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim were working on a big screen adaptation before Berlanti’s Green Lantern invaded theaters. A review of the shelved Flash movie script has appeared online, and is said to have some of the same elements as in the television show, hopefully proving that not all is lost. In the film version, the accelerator was created by Eobarb Thawne, who is known in the DC Universe as The Reverse Flash. The twist revolves around Allen constantly being able to defeat Thawne in an alternate dimension. To extract revenge, Thawne kills Barry’s mother, waits fifteen years, and tries to use the accelerator, along with Barry’s super speed to get home. Initially, Thawne is seen as an ally to Barry, helping him cope with his powers, before revealing himself to be an evil mastermind. The Trickster and Iris are also key roles in the film and supposed television script. However for the time being, the film script and audition tapes are like most things found on the Internet; smoke and mirrors. The Flash is set to premier this Fall on The CW. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
