Anybody up for a good-old-fashioned diva-off? If so, this news will come as a pleasant surprise - legends Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have signed on to play the leads in a Netflix original series.
The series, entitled Grace and Frankie
, is about two bitter rivals (Fonda and Tomlin),who come into each other's lives again when their husbands fall in love with each other and announce their intention to marry.

The series was created by Marta Kauffman, known for creating megahit sitcom Friends
, which remains one of the most beloved television series of all time.
Grace and Frankie
will be the first regular series role for two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda, and one of many for the six-time Emmy victor Lily Tomlin, who was recently seen in the misfire sitcom Malibu Country
, which was cancelled in 2013 after one season.
Netflix has given the series a 13-episode order, which will air next year sometime.
This continues Netflix slow takeover of quality programming, following the welcome return of old favorite Arrested Development
, the thrilling House of Cards
and cult hit Orange is the New Black
. According to USA Today
, Netflix's Ted Sarandos said about the casting of the veteran actresses: "Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are among the funniest and most formidable actresses ever and it’s an incredible privilege to give them the opportunity to run riot on Netflix."
We look forward to seeing these two legends return to television, and hope it will be as entertaining as it can (and we know it will be!)
