Lindsay Lohan once starred in 2004's teen comedy, Mean Girls. A decade later, the film is still being remembered and its popularity has not decreased one bit. The actress recently stated that she has actually discussed a sequel of the cult film with writer Tina Fey - on relaxed terms though.
Back in late April, when the actual 10-year anniversary of the movie took place, the whole cast took part in The New York Times' tribute article about Mean Girls. At the time, Lindsay was the only one not to comment, leading everyone to assume she had left those days in the past for good. However, her statement in a recent interview with Time Out London proves otherwise. The actress is totally interested in a sequel to the classic movie and even has the storyline figured out. In her own words:
"People really love the movie: how do you top that? I was with Tina Fey ['Mean Girls' writer] the other day and I said we should do another 'Mean Girls,' like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating. That would be really funny. I’ll harass Tina to write it."
Lindsay Lohan's all-time-favorite film did get a sequel, though, and there are more related releases in the works. Back in 2011, Mean Girls 2 premiered on ABC Family and was released on DVD, but it was actually more of a not-so-good spin-off and less of a sequel. Furthermore, there's a stage musical adaptation in the works and a Mean Moms film in the works, a spin-off with Jennifer Aniston probably in the starring role.
In reality, a Mean Girls sequel is not in the works and Tina Fey has no intention of writing one at this point whatsoever. Do you think Lindsay can get her into the idea? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
