Last night (August 5), the second group of quarter-finalists competed for five spots in the Season Nine semifinals!

Several acts rose to the challenge, others delivered disappointing performances, and Juan Carlos became the first act to be buzzed by a judge this live show!

So, who moved through to the next round? Which act advanced through the Judges’ Choice? Read on to find out…

After Howie matched Nick Cannon’s outfit and Howard defended his stance against his fellow judges on the Juan Carlos debacle, the show quickly recapped last night’s performances and we found out why Mel B was in a bad mood last night.

The first three acts to face the crucial results were Hart Dance Team, Darik Santos and Andrey Moraru. This was a tough group, but Radio City Music Call roared for Andrey Moraru…the room exploded with delight when Nick read the result! Heidi predicted that Andrey would go far in the competition!

Up next was the odd pairing of Jaycob Curlee and Juan Carlos! To the crowd’s delight (and to save everyone from seeing Howard Stern melting down on live television), Jaycob Curlee moved on to the semifinals! Jaycob stated that he would be performing to his fans and not for three certain judges (Howard, Heidi, and Mel B).

Another odd pairing of the evening was Aerial Animation and Loop Rawlings! In the battle of animation meets aerial versus the Wild West, America chose the former and the crowd went wild. Abigail praised her partner-in-crime, Andy Cook, for all of his hard work. Meanwhile, the King of All Media advised her to embrace her frontrunner status and let her imagination run wild!

Before the show went live, Howie Mandel messed with audience members trying to pick up their tickets to the show! They also teased Nick Cannon’s upcoming appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Lindsey Stirling thanked the show for letting her live her dream and performed “Shatter Me” with Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale!

Once the girls left the stage, it was time for Mat Franco and Livy, Matt, and Sammy. The magician’s fans sent him through to the next round in the competition! Scary Spice was eager to see Matt’s semifinal performance.

Before the judges were forced to make their weekly cruel cut, Nick asked John and Andrew to leave the stage (due to their elimination). This left Acte II and Mara Justine to face the dysfunctional quartet!

Heidi kicked off the vote by choosing Mara! Scary Spice also chose Mara, and Howard ended the vote by choosing Mara Justin, sending Acte II home!

Next week, Adrian Romoff, Mike Super, Acroarmy, Paul Ieti, and Anna Clendening are among the acts that will perform on the Radio City Music Hall stage!
