r Lorde's single “Royals” continues its rule over the US Hot 100 chart, holding the number one spot on the list. A position that it has held since Oct 12. The New Zealand singer, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, just turned 17 last month and has spent 13 weeks topping the US Hot 100 chart. The young singer-songwriter told Rolling Stone that “Royals” was her take on the upper class. “I've always been fascinated with aristocracy. I'm really interested in the Ivy Leagues, the final clubs, all the really old-money families, the concept of old money,” she said. Eminem and Rihanna's “The Monster” sits at second place on the charts, and Miley Cyrus' “Wrecking Ball”, formerly sitting at number one prior to Lorde's success, is now at number three. “Wake Me Up” by AVICII is at number five, Katy Perry's empowering “Roar” is at number seven, and her ballad “Unconditionally” is sitting at number sixteen. One Direction has three of their songs from their new album, Midnight Memories on the charts, and Passenger's “Let Her Go” holds the tenth place on the list. Interestingly, Enya's “Only Time”, released thirteen years ago back in 2000, revisits the charts at number 43. Billboard accounts this to its use in a commercial that has gone viral. Check out the commercial, where a man does the splits between two reversing trucks, here.
