Lostprophets fans are shocked today to find out Ian Watkins has entered a suicide watch in an English hospital.
Digital Spy, the Independent and NME have all confirmed that the controversial rocker was moved from a Bridgend prison to a psychiatric hospital as he awaits trial.
The “Last Train Home” singer has been charged with 24 sex offences include raping a baby and possessing an extreme image of a person having sex with an animal.
“He has been seen by a clinical psychologist and she believes he should be receiving anti-psychotic medication,” said barrister Sally O’Neill, who will represent the singer in the upcoming trial. “She wants him to be taken to a secure hospital for assessment and treatment.”
O’Neill also told the Independent that Watkins has been on suicide watch five times an hour.
This past March, Watkins issued a statement that was attained by NME stating that he “furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made” and “intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name.”
Watkins’ bandmates have also issued this statement from their website: “Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.”
He will stand trial in November.
