It's been a while since we've heard Lea Michele sing, with Glee ending two years ago, but that's changed now! The talented actress and singer has been working hard writing and recording songs for a new solo album called Places in between filming two seasons of Fox's Scream Queens. Though the album itself is coming out this year, it doesn't yet have a release date, but a single has just been released, and it is called "Love Is Alive".
She did preview a few songs on the album recently in New York and in LA at some small concerts, so you may have heard this song already if you were lucky enough to attend, but, for the rest of us, this track is brand new, and you definitely need to give it a listen right away!https://open.spotify.com/track/4nfCZJ7dE1rhjQatCTGNtZ
I have missed her lovely voice so much. This wonderful ballad is so smooth and powerful and really shows off her immense talent, and I'm not usually a fan of slower songs. But this song is both simple and deep and is stuck in my head after only a few listens. I can see this song as a great addition to a movie soundtrack.
Michele's first solo album, Louder, released in 2014, had a nice mix of upbeat songs and ballads, so I'm hoping Places does, too, because she really can sing anything, and the variety is nice. Fun fact: the title of 'Places' was a suggestion from Jonathan Groff and refers to the stage call in theater, which I think is really fitting as Lea Michele has come a long way since her theater days, and that can be expressed through her music.
How excited are you to be hearing her voice again, and how beautiful is "Love Is Alive"? Leave a comment with your thoughts!
