Earlier this week, Disney channel gave fans a first look at the children of some of the most iconic Disney villains. Good and evil come together in a teenage prep school, where the children of Maleficent, the Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, and other characters attend classes and get into mischief.

Speaking of Maleficent: we all know Kristen Chenoweth, known for her roles on Fox’s Glee and the Broadway classic Wicked, but now we have photographic evidence of just how malevolent she can be!

Kenny Ortega, the film’s director, also worked on the popular DCOM (Disney channel original movie) High School Musical franchise. He is very taken with Chenoweth’s portrayal of Maleficent, and the chemistry between her and her on-set daughter, played by Dove Cameron (Liv & Maddie).

“Who didn’t love to hate Maleficent? You have the incomparable Kristin Chenoweth with this fantastic chemistry with Dove Cameron, who plays her daughter, and wonderful wit and good humor with Kathy Najimy, who plays her neighbor, the Evil Queen. It’s just a dream.”

Wait, the Evil Queen is her neighbor? Do they get together for tea while their children are at school, exchanging notes on how best to rid themselves of their own pesky princess enemies?

Not quite. According to EW’s Inside TV, Maleficent is “the only villain among those held prisoner on the Isle of the Lost who has not completely given up hope on conquering the kingdom.” In the newly released photo, Maleficent is taking her daughter, Mal, aside to discuss her offspring’s inability to be truly evil. Also pictured are the children of Jafar (Jay, played by Booboo Stewart), Cruella de Vil (Carlos, played by Cameron Boyce), and the Evil Queen (Evi, played by Sofia Carson).

What’s with all of these original names? Why can’t Mal just dig deep and discover that she’s truly sinister? All these questions and more will be answered when Disney’s Descendants premieres in 2015.
