In honor of Game of Thrones' return to television, Madame Tussauds San Francisco has installed a wax figure of Peter Dinklage, well known for his role as Tyrion Lannister.
“I didn’t believe this was real," Dinklage said after seeing his figure for the first time (and snapping a selfie), "and now I do believe it’s real. I haven’t told anyone but my wife because maybe I’m going to just invite them to San Francisco and freak them out.”
Madame Tussauds' New York team spent more than two hours making Dinklage's wax double, taking over 250 measurements. The measurements were then sent to the MT London team, where 20 artists spent four months creating the final wax figure. The cost of the figure comes in at about $350,000.
Dinklage even donated a suit from his own wardrobe to give the figure an authentic look!
“With the upcoming Game of Thrones season premiere, we felt it was the perfect time to reveal Peter Dinklage’s wax figure,” said Chris Connors, General Manager of Madame Tussauds San Francisco. “We are excited to share his figure with the show’s legions of fans.”
To date, Peter Dinklage has hosted Saturday Night Live, starred in Pixels, been the voice of Trumpkin in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, voiced Captain Gutt in Ice Age: Continental Drift, starred with Melissa McCarthy in The Boss, has us rooting for House Lannister (some of House Lannister, anyway) in Game of Thrones, and starred in several other projects. He has won Emmys in 2011 and 2015 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and a Golden Globe in 2011 for Best Supporting Actor - Series, Miniseries, or Television Film.
Dinklage's wax figure will be permanently installed at the Madame Tussauds Fisherman's Wharf location in San Francisco, California. Use the "Tyrion" promo code for a Buy One, Get One offer – only for a limited time.
