Mark Salling has come a long way over the past several years. Salling was born in Dallas, Texas and is the younger child of Condy and John Salling. He first appeared on the big screen at age 14 alongside Naomi Watts in Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering. He attended high school in Texas where he was a wrestler, and after graduating he headed to Pasadena, California to pursue a career in music. Salling has released two studio albums and owns his own record label, Pipe Dream Records. He also really loves birds.

Although Salling is an accomplished musician, his biggest break to date was being cast in Glee in 2008 as Noah “Puck” Puckerman. Salling has done a superb job as Puck over the past five seasons. It’s not every day that an actor comes along who can portray a bad boy athlete with a heart of gold with such genuineness. Puck has transformed over the years. First, he was the bad boy football player, throwing people into dumpsters, and mocking the Glee Club. Mr. Schue eventually convinced him to join his short-lived a cappella group, Acafellas. Of course true to his nature, Puck only agreed to perform in hopes of getting a girl. If I’m being honest, they weren’t exactly hard to look at when they were dancing in tuxes, but it’s probably best that Acafellas is no more. I think I can speak for us all when I say that you can only watch grown men and two teenagers sing “I Wanna Sex You Up” to the PTA so many times before it gets creepy.

Puck eventually gave up throwing slushies and joined the Glee Club. It’s only then we learn that he is Quinn’s baby daddy, not Finn. Although that caused a lot of tension between the three, it didn’t stop Puck from cranking out some top notch performances. His rendition of “The Lady is a Tramp” with Mercedes was pure musical genius, and the “Justin Bieber Experience” had some real potential.

Puck matured during his time in Glee Club. He took responsibility for his unborn child, and whenever I hear “Beth” I still get a little bit teary-eyed. When Quinn changes her mind and wants their daughter back, Puck only has his daughter’s best interest at heart when he warns Shelby, the adoptive mother, of Quinn’s plans. (We’ll just overlook that he slept with her once even though she was his teacher, not to mention Rachel Berry’s mom as well. Whoops.)

Puck heads to Los Angeles after graduation, and even though things don’t go quite as planned, we do find out he’s a good big brother. On a trip home to Lima, Mr. Schue introduces him to his half-brother, Jake. Puck gives him some brotherly dating advice, and the two even got a matching tattoo when Jake visits.

The last time we saw Puck he was home coping with Finn’s death. In “The Quarterback” we see what’s really the most important to him: his friends. He vows to Coach Beiste that he plans to turn his life around, and do something that would make Finn proud, like joining the Air Force.

We know Puck is set to appear on this week’s 100th episode of Glee, and personally I’m hoping to see Quick reunite. (Chase Crawford who?)
