Just before last summer went away, Maroon 5 released their fifth studio album, V. As the bandmates are currently promoting the third single from the record, “Sugar”, they have now premiered a brand-new remix of the track that features an additional verse from Nicki Minaj.
As if the Ammo and Cirkut crafted tune was not catchy enough, a rap verse from everyone’s favorite rapstress has come to make it even better. The new version finds Nicki Minaj kicking off the tune, introducing herself and then moving into her part, before paving the way for Adam Levine to sing the chorus. The production of “Sugar” also sounds refreshed though, kicked up a notch with a more upbeat outcome. Even though the remix is probably just a promotional move to boost the overall sales of the single, Maroon 5 really got it good with this feature, as it sounds perfectly in place and only adds to the flow of the song.
It’s unlikely that Maroon 5 will shoot a whole new music video for the Nicki Minaj-assisted remix of “Sugar”. With the song already performing well on the charts, it should reach a new peak thanks to the rapstress’ addition. Take a listen to the new version below.
