Martin Freeman Confirms Fargo TV Series Is Not A Remake

Adrienne Tyler

Staff Writer

The television series Fargo, based on the movie of the same name by Joel and Ethan Coen, will not be a direct remake, star Martin Freeman has confirmed. Freeman will play the main character Lester Nygard in the ten-part-miniseries currently filming in Calgary. Nygard is loosely based on William H. Macy’s character Jerry Lundegaard from the original film. “It’s kind of the same universe without being literally the same story, with echoes of the film that we know and many people love, me included. It’s not just a retelling of the story, because it’s ten hours of TV, so it’s going to be a wider spectrum,” Freeman told Digital Spy. The series is produced by the Coen brothers and along with Freeman, the cast includes Billy Bob Thornton and Kate Walsh. The story takes place in Bemidji, Minnesota, and follows Deputy Molly Solverson [Allison Tolman] as she investigates a crime involving Nygard. Fargo is still in production and is scheduled for release later this year on FX. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
