Marvel Comics has canceled their all-female comic series, Fearless Defenders. Fearless Defenders, written by Cullen Bunn in February 2013, follows an all-female team known as Valkyrior, led by characters Valkyrie and Misty Knight. This cancellation was confirmed by artist Will Sliney via his blog on Friday. “It's a sad day today as it has been announced that Fearless Defenders will be coming to an end with issue 12. It's especially sad because of the outpouring of love the book received at New York Comic Con,” Sliney explained in his blog post. “But even with the news, I refuse to be downtrodden because I truely [sic] believe we created something that we can be proud of. “Fearless Defenders will be looked back upon in ten years as so many peoples first and favourite book. I think it opened up a world of comics to a lot of people and the proof was in how many fans told me last weekend that it was their first ever comic book.” At the end of his blog post, Sliney expressed his appreciation for fans of the work. “Thank you for your support. It really means a lot. On the boards, on twitter, on tumblr,” he wrote. The production of Fearless Defenders will end this year in December.
