Marvel Studios Mulls Bringing Captain Britain To The MCU

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has revealed in an interview that there have been discussions about bringing in Captain Britain to the MCU.

Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios has revealed that there have been discussions about bringing Captain Britain to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will Captain Britain join the MCU?

During a recent interview for the promotion of Spider Man: Homecoming, Feige and his co-producer Amy Pascal were asked whether it was possible for Captain Britain to join the MCU. To which Feige replied, “We have discussed it. There are a lot of actors that come in and ask about that part, so we’ll have to see.”

Who is Captain Britain?

Captain Britain is not exactly one of Marvel’s most famous heroes, but then again neither were the Guardians of the Galaxy, who have proven that even obscure comic book characters can make a splash on the big screen. Originally the character, as denotes the name, was meant to be a British counterpart to Captain America. But aside from the whole “Cap” name thing, the two are entirely different. First of all, Captain Britain whose real name is Brian Braddock had magical origins and was granted superhuman abilities by Roma and her father Merlyn–yes that Merlyn!

Also while Steve Rogers came from humble beginnings, Braddock came from an aristocratic background and he grew up in a manor. Although, it has been stated that his family were not as wealthy as they use to be, so he isn’t exactly anything like Tony Stark either.

His powers include the standard superhuman strength and reflexes, plus he can fly and create force fields. One very interesting thing about Captain Britain is that he is the twin brother of Elizabeth Braddock a.k.a. Psylocke. A character we already have seen brought to life in X-men: Apocalypse!

Makes one wonder if she’ll be brought over to the MCU if her brother makes the cut. After all, despite X-men being under Fox we did get two versions of Quicksilver.

Still with the current full roster of Marvel films that are due for release, it might take a while before it is even possible for Captain Britain to make his debut. So I guess we have to be really patient unless he manages to sneak his way into Infinity War.
