There’s no doubt in my mind that ABC’s new show, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is set to be one of this year’s biggest hits on television.
Created by Joss Whedon (writer/director of 2012 box-office sensation, Avengers Assemble); Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will be based around the ‘SHIELD’ organisation which stands for ‘Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division’.
Channel 4’s chief creative officer, Jay Hunt said: "Like the Super Hero universe from which it has come, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is big, bold and absolutely exhilarating…featuring the production values you’d expect from Marvel and ABC Studios, this is family entertainment at its most exciting.”
Familiar faces set to appear in the show are: Cobie Smulders and Clark Gregg as Agent Maria Hill and Agent Phil Coulson, respectively, with a possible appearance from Samuel L. Jackson who’s expressed interest to appear on the show, reprising his role as the infamous Nick Fury. Note
Note: all you Hiddlestoner’s out there; Mr Tom Hiddleston himself has also not ruled out reprising his role of the cunning yet misunderstood super-villain, Loki.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will premiere in America on ABC, Tuesday 24th September, 8/7c, whilst it’s expected to air in the UK this autumn. This comes after the news that The Tomorrow People, Hostages and The 100 have also been picked up by Channel 4/E4, all due to air 2014. C4’s Jay Hunt mentioned ‘Channel 4 has had real success with Warner Bros shows such as The Big Bang Theory and 2 Broke Girls’ and he’s ‘thrilled to be bringing more of the best acquisitions to the Channel 4 network’.
