Avengers Assemble! Actually, not The Avengers, but Marvel characters at least. Recent news on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D suggests that the series will follow a story line from one of the Marvel comic movies, reports Digital Spy.
The pilot of the ABC TV drama will pick up a storyline from one of Marvel’s blockbuster films. Jed Whedon confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the TV series will not be The Avengers.
“We plan on trying to weave in between the films and try to make them more rewarding on both ends,” said Whedon. “In any of these [episodes], you can always ask, ‘why don’t they just call Iron Man?’ - they are aware of each other, but they do have to have their own lives.”
Previously, Clark Gregg claimed that S.H.I.E.L.D has “incredible visual effects and stunts” that are different from anything TV watchers have ever seen before. Gregg will be will be returning to his role of Agent Phil Coulson in the series.
Marvel’s head of TV, Jeph Loeb, said that when fans see the show’s pilot, “they’ll be pretty astonished by what we pulled off and the challenge is to do it every week. The magic of television is that it’s about characters, and fortunately that’s also what Marvel is also about. We’re not built around a cape and a cowl.”
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will air this fall on Tuesdays on ABC at 8/7c.
