Following the massive success of the original Avengers films, including Iron Man 1 and 2Captain America: The First Avenger, and, of course, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, the cast of superheroes are now entering intense negotiations regarding the second generation of flicks.

Ending his contract with Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr has now come into talks to remain involved in the Marvel movie-verse, specifically for Avengers 2 and possibly Avengers 3, which may arrive in 2017. He is, however, hesitant when it comes to the prospect for a fourth Iron Man film.

Chris Evans, on the other hand, is contracted for a huge six Marvel movies, which began with Captain America: The First Avenger and Avengers Assemble, and will continue on to Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers 2. This means Evans has two more appearances in the spangled suit before he has fulfilled his contract. Discussing his bond to the production company, Evans simply said that “[Marvel Studios] are not going to do bad movies,” adding, “I love being the character, I love being a part of the team, and it is the best. If you have to be under a six-picture contract, you can’t find a better one.”

In other Marvel news, it has recently been revealed that Downey Jr earned an estimated $50 million for appearing in Avengers Assemble, and the rest of the actors who portray the superhero team are now striving for similar deals for the sequel, influenced by the massive success of last year’s blockbuster. The Iron Man star is supporting his co-stars in this, and is reportedly pressurizing the bosses to offer improved deals to the rest of the main cast. One source has said “He’s the only guy with real power in this situation, and balls of steel, too… he’s already sent a message that he’s not going to work for a place where they treat his colleagues like s**t.” Go Robert!

Stars including Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson are yet to agree to appear in Avengers 2, due out in 2015, and those whose contracts are still in force have apparently been threatened with penalties including being sued or recast.
