The Hot Tamale Train conductor Mary Murphy is returning for the fourteenth season of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance.
It has been two years since Murphy's departure from the show. However, the news broke about the return of Murphy to the SYTYCD stage earlier this week. So You Think You Can Dance executive producer and Judge Nigel Lythgoe stated, “I am thrilled that Mary will return to So You Think You Can Dance and I’m sure the fans will be, as well. She brings an energy and enthusiasm that’s contagious and I can’t wait for her to join me on the judging panel.”
Last season, Paula Abdul replaced Murphy, who left after Season 11, on the judging panel after the news broke that Murphy was “released” from her contract.
“I’m very grateful and proud to have been part of such an extraordinary television show, I’m sure there wasn’t a person watching that didn’t know I loved what I did,” Murphy said at the time.
For the fourteenth season, FOX is going back to original SYTYCD roots and giving dancers between the ages of 18 to 30 the chance to compete to make it to the Top 10 and, ultimately, be paired up with All-Stars from various series' contestants.
Alongside Murphy coming back, FOX confirmed that Cat Deeley will be returning to the show as host. While Nigel Lythgoe will continue to be in the first judging seat, the third spot in the judging panel has yet to be announced.
Murphy is a veteran ballroom dance champion and was known for her loud screaming reactions on the panel and using her signature phrase to praise contestants.
So You Think You Can Dance will air Season 14 this summer. Are you looking forward to seeing the old team get back together? Let us know!
