Masi Oka is returning to his beloved Heroes roots by reprising his role as time-traveling comic book geek Hiro Nakamura for Heroes Reborn.
Heroes Reborn, which is a revival of NBC's hit series Heroes, will have a 13-episode season order, which is set to air sometime in the fall.
Oka, who will be joining the series for a multi-episodic plot arc, commented, "I’m excited to return to my Heroes roots. Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I’m hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV."
I will definitely enjoy seeing a familiar face in a sea of new characters. Hiro Nakamura was indeed an exceptional character and made the line "Yatta!" memorable by using it as his consistent tagline throughout the four-season run of Heroes.
Series creator and executive producer Tim Kring shared Oka's excitement and enthusiasm for Hiro's return, "We are thrilled to have Masi back in the Heroes family. The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series’ success, and a gigantic fan favorite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again."
Oka is the second to reprise his role; the first being Jack Coleman, who will return as the ever-illusive Noah Bennet aka HRG. Rounding out the cast in the as-of-yet-to-be-disclosed-roles are Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Kiki Sukezane, Danika Yarosh, Gatlin Green, Henry Zebrowski, Judith Shekoni, and Robbie Kay.
As a massive Heroes fan, the nostalgia is hitting me hard and I hope this series sticks around longer than its predecessor. My excitement grew exceptionally after viewing the show's goose-bump inducing teaser trailer (see below!) and hearing the oh-so-familiar theme song of Heroes. Congratulations Heroes Reborn, you're officially on my must-watch list.
