Having now sold several thousand records, performed over a thousand shows and shared stages with iconic bands including REM and Pink Floyd, you might think that music was the one career path Matt Koelsch would take as he grew up, but it wasn’t. Instead, he worked in finance for several years before finally deciding to pursue his passion and hit the recording studio. It was a move that has since gone onto pay dividends in every sense of the word.
Christie Huff meanwhile is a country singer-songwriter who has an incredible talent for blending pop with her unique soulful sound. She’s played all over the United States, racked up millions of streams across several platforms and opened shows for Bebe Rexha and Jason Aldean to name just two.
While collaborations between artists are far from uncommon, sometimes two artists come together and magic happens. One such example of this is the new single Matt and Christie have recorded together called “Turn Around” which listeners might find has a sound reminiscent of Jack Johnson and Paul Simon to it, and PopWrapped are delighted to premiere its video.
Matt says of the creative process and story behind the track: “We have been writing and pre-producing Turn Around over the past year. The song started as a chord progression idea I had in a hammock one day at my friend’s wedding in New Hampshire. “Turn Around” narrates the romantic tension between two people that connect with each other in a public space and the suspense and fantasy that builds in each of their minds after that initial moment.”
Christie adds: “Recording “Turn Around” was a dream come true! To record in the legendary Capitol Records was surreal. “Turn Around” to me is the classic love story of every hopeless romantics’ dream. The idea to long for someone to notice you. I relate because I am definitely a hopeless romantic and have definitely dreamed of somebody to just turn around so we can begin our epic love story! “Turn Around” has a very classic vibe and story that is timeless, everyone can relate!”
