Doctor Who's Matt Smith will be facing off against a horde of intelligent and deadly creatures born out of a viral pandemic in the upcoming film Patient Zero. Sounds familiar? Not quite...
“The great days of zombies are a little bit over,” says the movie's director Stefan Ruzowitzky and then he adds “It’s time for something new.”
In Patient Zero, Matt Smith plays Morgan, a human survivor who has the ability to talk to "The Infected" - former human beings who were transformed into deadly but still intelligent creatures. He is investigating this new species and is in search for "Patient Zero" so that he can develop an antidote.
Accompanying him in this mission is Game of Throne's Natalie Dormer who plays Center for Disease Control Virologist Dr. Gina Rose. Fellow Doctor Who alumni Clive Standen will be providing the military muscle and security as Colonel Knox. Meanwhile The Hunger Games Stanley Tucci will be playing the role of a villainous infected Professor.
Ruzowitsky has described "The Infected" as "much sexier"' than the typical undead. And they also have an end game, which is to ascend on top of the evolutionary scale.
“They have a lot of energy, they’re fast, they’re good-looking,” he said then went on to add “Not those walking vegetables.”
Interesting! Do check out those sexy "Infected" when Patient Zero hits cinemas on September 2.
