As soon as we saw that Lucasfilm had a panel at this year’s New York Comic Con, we knew we’d get some interesting news. While there were no rumblings about the new trilogy, Disney and Lucasfilm did unveil the latest Star Wars villain.
Known as the Inquisitor, the first image of the Star Wars: Rebels villain was shown during the Saturday panel and revealed a figure dressed all in black (sound familiar?). He is also described as being an “intimidating figure”, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Star Wars: Rebels is set in the two decades between the two current trilogies. The animated series will tell the story of the rise of the Empire and their search through the galaxy to find and destroy the remaining Jedi. The Inquisitor is recruited by Darth Vader to assist him in the hunt.
The image comes hot on the heels of the series’ 16-second teaser trailer, which was released less than a week ago.
Star Wars: Rebels is set to air as a one-hour special on the Disney Channel before the series screening on Disney XD in the fall of 2014.
