Marc Guggenheim is known for executive producing Arrow
and had previously expressed his not-so-warm feeling about super powers on the show. Even though he was against the idea of turning things supernatural, he might have just changed his mind
Despite metahumans coming and going in spin-off The Flash
, Guggenheim was of the idea that Arrow
should remain realistic and not include those kind of people. The shows are connected though and episode 8 will only further showcase their bonds. As it seems, the crossover event of the two series proved the executive producer wrong and he now has a different opinion on the matter.
In his point of view, Arrow
could keep it real, while also pulling off the addition of some new pals with super powers. Starling and Central are not cities from entirely different worlds after all, are they? In his own words:
"What’s fun about episode 8 for Arrow is it proved to me, as a writer and a producer, hey, you know what? You can do metahumans on Arrow without feeling like the show is changing its tone too much. It’s something that we all sort of collectively realized — hey, the show can handle that. So that’s kind of cool. I might have to amend my earlier comment from the beginning of the year, just because this kind of works."
