Metallica Talks Never Playing The Glastonbury Festival

2013 has been the year of the concert. I’ve been to almost 20 so far and attended my first festival (Jay-Z’s Made In America where I lost my friends on the first day but that story is for another time). It was an experience to say the least. So of course I’m already looking ahead to my next festival. Even though the tickets for Glastonbury 2014 went on sale and sold out last week, I’m looking forward to one day attending it. The Glastonbury Festival is the music festival that takes place in England and that pulls together every artist, from every genre, for an absolutely epic night. Latest acts to headliners are Beyonce, Mumford & Sons and U2. Speaking to MTV News, Lars Ulrich of Metallica talks about having not played the legendary festival yet. He says “Every year there’s probably less chance of us doing it than the previous year, but it just looks like it would be a fun night out…Glastonbury is the only one that is eluding us” With acts like Radiohead, R.E.M, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Muse and Oasis having headlined the festival before, you would think that Metallica would be on the list to headline the festival! Ulrich also talked about how he, U2 and Green Day had a lot to drink one night (can you imagine?!) and all agreed to tour together. He said “I was told in the wee morning hours following this outing that members of U2, Green Day and Metallica agreed to tour together. We haven’t talked about it since, but speaking for myself, I’d be very up for that” Ya, you and everyone else, Ulrich. While Metallica may miss out on playing the festival this year, you can catch their 3D concert movie Through the Never in theaters now and check out the live soundtrack (available in stores and on iTunes)
