Michael Baxter loves The Simpsons.
52 year old Baxter has won a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for his homage to The Simpsons. The proud holder of the world record for "Most tattoos of characters from a single animated series” spent 130 hours under the gun of tattoo artist Jane Baxter in order to to achieve the colorful work of art. The piece contains 203 characters from the show and cost AUS $12,000 (that's roughly $8,505.00 American or €7,640.00). So why did the Australian grandfather commit to the cartoon on such a deep level? He told NME it was because:
I wanted to get something which was unique, which nobody else had or would even think of getting. I'm a huge fan of the show. I love the tattoo, and I know lots of other people including my grandchildren do too.
In order to verify the record, all the details about each character had to be provided to Guinness: the character and the episode(s) in which they appeared in the same form as in the tattoo.
In other Simpsons news: New Zealander Lee Weir received Guinness World Record recognition for the 41 Homer Simpson tattoos he has on his arm. This makes him the record holder for the most tattoos of a single character.
And, in case you live under a rock and don't know what all the hype is about, you can catch season 27 of The Simpsons starting September 27 on FOX.
