Staff Writer It looks as though Marvel found its Ant-Man, again! Michael Douglas has just signed on to play Hank Pym, a character who in the comics is the first to don the Ant-Man costume. "With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves," said Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige. "We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life." Douglas joins Paul Rudd who we previously reported as having taken on the role of Scott Lang in the film. Those familiar with the comic book lore will know that Lang is the second character in the Marvel universe to take on the guise of Ant-Man after stealing the costume from Hank in an act of desperation. This is some substantial star power to add to the Edgar Wright directed film. Douglas, perhaps best known for his performance as Gordon Gecko in Wall Street, has starred in some classic flicks, such as Basic Instinct, Fatal Attraction, The Game, and Wonder Boys. On top of that, he’s basking in the glory of a new win at last night's Golden Globes for playing Liberace in the HBO movie, Behind the Candelabra. Ant-Man is a character in the Marvel universe that has an exceptionally flush backstory, particularly when considering the various iterations of people who take on the costume. With Douglass and Rudd on board, the acting talent is certainly there to turn this movie incarnation into a success. Ant-Man is currently aiming to hit theaters, July 2015.
