Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Conrad Murray, was made famous in the wake of the legend’s untimely death. Murray is now back in the headlines as he has been released from prison after serving only half of his four-year sentence. Murray was convicted of manslaughter after providing Jackson with a lethal dose of anesthetic that ended the King of Pop’s life at the tender age of 50; a tragedy made even more tragic by the fact that Jackson was gearing up for a series of comeback tours. Murray’s early release is part of a state-wide California attempt to diminish prison over-crowding. Therefore, instead of being a drain on the state, the non-violent offenders, and those who have displayed good behavior and remorse, are burped out of the system and released into the hands of their personal representatives. The press was lying in wait to catch a glimpse of Murray’s release, along with several of Jackson’s fans, playing his music in memoriam of the late icon.  Both camps were disappointed, however, as Murray was smuggled out of a back exit, avoiding the throng. Murray was incarcerated on the basis of gross negligence, with the prosecution arguing that the dosage of propofol administered to Jackson as a sleeping aid was the cause of his death. A dosage that, based on Jackson’s weight and stature, Murray should have known would have been deadly. After conviction, he was remanded with the maximum sentence of four years. The King of Pop is a loss that the world is still reeling from. His untimely death helped to, if not erase, ease the pain of his controversial and somewhat bizarre life; including several child molestation charges that the star faced. Today, Jackson is the highest-earning deceased celebrity. Murray has made sure the world did not forget about him during his incarceration, releasing nonsensical messages to the media, and sitting in for live interviews with Anderson Cooper and Matt Lauer. For example: Murray actually began singing while speaking with Cooper during AC360. He also reached out to Jackson’s young daughter, Paris, telling her that he loved her as a daughter and serenading her with Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone.” I have a feeling that we haven’t heard the last from Murray and his bizarre antics. Now that he’s out, there’s no telling what stunt he will pull next.
