As we approach the series finale of Girl Meets World, the question on everyone’s minds is: Could another network pick up the show?
Well, fear not Girl Meets World fans!
The show’s creator Michael Jacobs let TVLine know that “There are talks underway, but we’re at the very very beginning stages. And I can tell you it’s because of the audience’s reaction to the cancellation that there is interest in other places. For anyone in show business, if you ask them why they’re doing something and they say they’re doing it for themselves, they won’t sustain long. Those that answer ‘We’re doing it for the audience’ and mean it, they sustain.”
Fans showed their love for the show through a campaign entitled “Paper Airplane Campaign.” Fans of the show sent written letters to various networks (Hulu & Netflix) formed into paper airplanes like seen at the end of the show each episode. Fans hope that, by doing this, the show will be picked up. This campaign is something Jacobs is very proud of, saying,
“They came up with it by themselves. Networks want to do something to gather an audience. The fact that there is an audience who’s been so loyal says a lot.”
The news of the series’ cancellation didn’t reach fans until earlier this month. However, rumors have been circulating for longer than that. The finale, entitled “Girl Meets Goodbye” (which was filmed back in July of 2016), is said to have the biggest group of Boy Meets World cast members in Girl Meets World history. Although we aren’t sure who all will be in the finale, we do know is that both actresses who played Morgan (Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway) will be making an appearance on the finale.
