In terribly sad news, acclaimed and iconic director Mike Nichols has died at the age of 83.
Nichols was a versatile writer and director of film, theater and television. He is one of the few people to have won the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) for his work in the entertainment industry.
He was also known for his collaborations as a stand-up comedian with fellow writer and director Elaine May.
Two of Nichols’ standout performers also passed away this year – Philip Seymour Hoffman (who Nichols directed on Broadway in Death of a Salesman) and Robin Williams, who played the lead role in Nichols’ hilarious comedy, The Birdcage.
No cause of death has been announced yet.
We send our condolences to Mike Nichols’ family, friends and the countless fans he gained through his amazing work, one of them being yours truly. Mike’s contributions to the world of entertainment are indelible and will never be forgotten.
