Miley Cyrus Blasts Nicki Minaj In NY Times Interview

In a recent NY Times interview, singer/actress Miley Cyrus blasted Nicki Minaj for her MTV VMA comments this past July.

Remember in July when Nicki Minaj went on a Twitter rant for not getting a Video of the Year nomination for the 2015 Video Music Awards?

Where she posted “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” and then added that “black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it.”

She got into a brief tussle with Taylor Swift over what she tweeted , but was later resolved when Swift apologized to her, and Minaj accepted it.

Well, it seems that Taylor was not the only pop star who thought that Nicki was out of line. Miley Cyrus who is hosting the 2015 Video Music Award ceremony is not buying into Minaj’s arguments.

In speaking to New York Times, Cyrus had this, among other things, to say:

“If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There are girls everywhere with this body type,’ …”

Miley said, then added “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about.”

Ouch! So, do you think Miley is right? Did Nicki Minaj make it all about her? Hit the comments below and let us know your thoughts.
