Danielle TaylorMiley Cyrus really can’t stop - she debuted the music video for her second single “Wrecking Ball” on September 9th. The songstress appears to be fully nude sitting on a destruction ball in the video. This video was directed by Terry Richardson. This is the second song to be released from Cyrus’s upcoming album Bangerz and acts as the follow-up to her previous UK number 1 single “We Can’t Stop”.
Cyrus has been the center of attention lately since her inappropiate MTV VMA performance with Robin Thicke in Brooklyn last month. It has been rumored that her appearance on an upcoming cover of Vogue
by Anna Wintourwas canceled who said that she found the singer’s VMA appearance “unpleasant.”
Miley continues to prove that she isn’t Hannah Montana anymore.
Nicole Clark, media educator for students and director of the documentary, “Covergirl Culture,” commented on the new music video by saying “After I stopped laughing at the video all I could think was this video screams ‘I’m beyond desperate to be shocking, beyond desperate to be sexy and beautiful.’ Instead it’s ridiculous, not artistic, not meaningful because she’s trying to hard to ‘pose’ for camera and do a Calvin Klein ad for underwear while poorly lipsycing and being overly dramatic.” She also told Fox411, ” I just can’t take her seriously as a singer or a performer in her silly serious video. It’s almost Zoolander because it seems she thinks she’s being artistic and serious but her attempt is transparent and laughable. At one point she rubs her nose on the chain and looks absurd.”
Some major industry professionals expected that the “Wrecking Ball” exhibit is the sign of something more complex than trying to get rid of her tween star image. Roann Torossian CEO of 5WPR has commented on that theory by saying “Miley Cyrus seems to be in the midst of a crash. Maybe it’s a 20-year old acting inappropriately as part of growing up, but it’s not appealing, not sexy, not funny. One wonders if Cyrus has anyone counseling her- where is her manager, her agent, her publicist?”
The new album Bangerz will be released in the UK on October 7th and October 8th in the U.S.. The record supposedly has a collaboration with Britney Spears, although Spears nor Cyrus has confirmed this rumor. You can check out the video for “Wrecking Ball” below.
