Welcome to the world, baby Castellano-Lahiri.
It finally happened—Mindy and Danny have their little family in check and, as the millennials would say, "on fleek."
Mindy and Danny are loved up after their recent engagement, and Mindy decides she wants the D—the Dan. However, our favourite crank puts a kibosh on it as, to quote Danny, he “doesn’t want his special little guy near his special little guy.”
Mindy scoffs at that and says it’s obviously going to enjoy sex sounds—it’s her kid. But Danny stays firm.
Back in the office, Mindy and Morgan are heading off to the fertility expo to showcase their latest idea “Later, Baby," where they ask women in their twenties to freeze their eggs, as it is the most viable time. Tamara says she heard it was unsafe from the Des Laureier brother’s video for holistic health. Mindy says that she will be drugged up and knocked out before her C-Section.
And it turns out this is the first thing Danny has heard about this.
So Mindy shows him around the birthing room where she’s going
to have her baby, which has hosted the likes of Tina Fey, and Danny asks why she won’t have it naturally and says she’ll be missing out on one of the most important moments of her life.
But it’s Mindy’s birth, so she can do what she wants.
Danny then does the unthinkable—he consults a midwife.
Brendan DesLaurier gives him advise on inducing birth—everything from spicy food to sex is on the menu for their romantic evening and Mindy is none the wiser until she stumbles across the holistic birthing book.
She asks Danny why he cares so much and he says it’s called a C-section because C is for coward.
Ouch, Doctor C, that’s cold.
So Mindy goes to the Expo with Morgan and Danny is drafted by Jeremy to go on a dinner date with him and his new girlfriend Whitney.
And Mindy goes into labour on the subway, surrounded by midwives, co-workers, and no birthing suite.
Morgan texts Danny to tell him they are stuck on the train under Penn Station and Mindy is in labour, and of course Danny runs to the rescue.
So Mindy is giving birth on the subway, reciting her favourite mantra to calm down --“Save my money and spend his”—while being serenaded by railroad songs.
You can do this, Beyonce Pad Thai!
Danny breaks through a barrier and runs through the subway tunnel for his family.
Mindy is in agony, and asks Deslaurier to punch her in the face and knock her out. He brilliantly quips, “Mindy, I have wanted to punch you in the face for a very long time, I will not do that right now.”
Danny arrives in time to tell Mindy she can do this, that’s she’s strong, she’s even stronger than his mother.
We’ve met Annette, we know how high a praise this is.
And with that, the baby is born.
And Mindy realises, she’s Ma.
And more tears.
This. Damn. Show.
So, Mindy fans, what did you think of this week’s episode? And how will Mindy fare with motherhood?
Let us know.
