Mindy has found the love of her life, and no, it’s not Danny.
Although he does come a close second.
Now let's get down to business on this week's The Mindy Project.
Mindy is obsessed with her newborn son—and we can't blame her, he’s adorable—and wonders whether or not to return to work in this week’s episode.
Mindy is taking Leo into the office for the first time since her maternity leave, to which Danny tells her she doesn’t need to come back and can be a stay at home mom. Mindy tells him that working is her life, and she loves Leo, but it’s part of who she is.
She travels to work on the subway when Leo gets hungry. As she’s feeding her child, she gets shamed by a southern gentleman who informs her she is an exhibitionist and it is not empowering, much like Hooters.
Mindy retorts that Hooters is very empowering and is a slap-up meal and gets booed off the subway.
She arrives at the office and greets “Jermery” and the others, who fawn over Leo while Danny sweeps in with the purell like the proud dad he is. Morgan, jealous of Leo, tries to regain attention by cartwheeling into a tray.
As you do.
They inform Mindy that they hired a new doctor and a nurse in her absence. And it turns out to be the Southern Gent from the subway.
Hey, Mr. Heckler.
Mindy is, of course, outraged and plots her revenge. Silently. As Danny points out they’re not married yet so he would still have to testify against her.
At the office she makes friends with Southern gent Jody’s kid sister, Celeste. They are old friends of Jeremy’s from his youth. Collette misses the South, but Jody wanted to move.
Mindy talks to a former patient of hers who says he is very old fashioned and won’t let men into the delivery room. Mindy finds his attitude sexist and confronts him in front of the entire office.
He makes a speech about how sexism means respecting women, somehow, and Mindy is so infuriated she exposes her breast to him and shoots him in the face with breastmilk by accident.
Best sight gag of the episode.
Mindy refuses to apologise to him, so quits the practice, telling Danny she wants to stay home with Leo.
As she is leaving, she has a heart to heart with Collette who convinces her that she might not want to be a stay at home mom.
When Danny arrives back to their apartment, she is ready to tell him the news. However, he is so excited that she will be a stay at home mother—so Leo will know someone is always there for him—that she can’t tell him. Especially when he reveals her “Push present."
Throughout the episode Danny struggled with what to get Mindy for bringing the love of his life into the world. From dances to turtlenecks, nothing seemed right.
He tells her she bled and endured pain for him, so he did it for her, as he reveals a “Leo” tattoo on his collarbone. He says he cried when he got it, but not just because of pain, and Mindy hugs him, although the panic sets in her eyes as to how she will break the news.
And that’s all folks.
