Danny and Morgan go on a Bro-Trip in this week’s man-centric The Mindy Project.
Danny is set to drive to California to see his Dad, who in the last episode had a heart attack. Danny asks Mindy to memorise the “Our Father” for little Leo, and her “Halloween Thy Name” makes him re-think his plans to leave. However, Mindy tells him he has to go, and Morgan interrupts them during a tongue session.
Nice job, Morgan.
So Morgan and Danny go on a road trip, driving to New Jersey first. Morgan falls asleep, and when he wakes, Danny tells him to get out of the car. Morgan says he’s going nowhere, so they take a trip to see Eddie, the dog from Frasier’s grave. Morgan is subsequently abandoned.
A moment’s silence for Eddie and his long looks to camera, folks.
Alright, let’s move on.
Eventually Danny confesses that he was going to New Jersey to meet someone - his son.
Hold the phone, WHAT?!
Danny apparently had a sixteen year old son he never knew about who emailed him out of the blue asking to meet his Dad. Danny had met his mother at a Billy Joel concert, and he was enamoured because she was the only other person who knew the words to “We Didn’t Start The Fire.”
But Morgan is skeptical about the situation.
While Danny and the kid bond, Morgan questions the baby momma. He asks how her son has blue eyes, and she says it must come from Danny’s family. Unfortunately, this is the nail in her story, as Danny’s family will never give Mindy a blue eyed child, and Morgan has the scratches from breaking this news to her to prove that.
She confesses to Danny and her son that he is not the father, and her kid - Eric - is upset, as he planned his birthday around finding his dad to show off to his friends... especially the one who has two dads.
Morgan wants to stay and help, but Danny urges him to leave. He abandons Morgan at the house and drives off. While on the phone to Leo and Mindy, Danny has a change of heart and turns back.
Morgan, meanwhile, is pretending to be Eric’s father. This, obviously, makes life even worse for Eric, until Hero Danny shows up and saves the day.
He apologises to Eric, and tells him revenge is a poison you drink yourself and expect it to affect someone else.
He got that lovely phrase off of a Doctor Phil calendar.
As a sixteenth birthday present, Danny gives this - now absolute stranger - his car, and he and Morgan take a 34 hour trip to California.
Danny Castellano has a heart of gold.
