In last night's episode of The Mindy Project
, we learn that Mindy has done the ultimate no-no: Not paid her taxes in six
oops. She believed that they took them out of her paycheck, and finds out that her tax evasion could cause a problem for the practice. This leads to her having to get a lawyer... but not just any lawyer. She has to go to Cliff. Yes, her ex-boyfriend Cliff...who she cheated on...with Danny...and dumped. Yikes. Cliff doesn't want to help her because she's still dating Danny, plus he doesn't think it's fair that she gets everything she wants. Bitter much?
So Mindy tells Cliff that she is no longer with Danny, because he cheated on her, which pleases Cliff. Except the fake breakup plan doesn't make Danny happy, especially after having to endure an awkward elevator ride. Things get even worse
when midwife Brendan Deslaurier gets into the elevator.
At an attorney/client dinner (read: Date
), Cliff tells Mindy that Danny is still married
! So Danny works out a deal with Cliff. In exchange for a divorce settlement with Christina, Danny will give Cliff his authentic seat from the old Yankee Stadium. He cries as he gives it away. Aww
. Apparently, next to Mindy, it's the most valuable thing of his. Cliff is actually a Red Sox fan though, and plans on lighting the chair on fire! Wow, team dedication
Before Cliff leaves, he points out that there is no evidence that Mindy spends time in Danny's apartment. This is something the doctors argued about when Mindy tried to leave her toothbrush at his place. After Danny tells Mindy that he is officially
divorced, he gives her a pink dresser. Cute! Then he tells her that she can put her stuff in it and keep it at his place.
Peter is still dealing with the betrayal of Lauren and Jeremy kissing, and handles it like a mature adult. INS receives an "anonymous" phone call and threatens to deport Jeremy back to England. Lauren decides to "put a pen in it" for both Peter and Jeremy. However, after learning that Jeremy could be leaving, she realizes that she has deeper feelings for him than she thought. So at the office, Jeremy and Lauren decide to "take the pen out" and makeup, while Peter watches.
Seriously, is there no Bro Code in England?
This week's episode had a nice mix of hearing about Mindy and Danny's dirty sex life, and trying get over a broken heart. It was also another way of showing how Mindy and Danny are a beautiful couple, but, individually, they are just horrible
people and terrible liars. Geez!
