On this week's Modern Family, Jay is instructed to bring over Lily's old princess castle, but is not keen on all of the "girl things" Joe has, especially after Gloria had Joe's toenails painted. When Phil wants to purchase Ms. Pacman, he is deterred by Claire's disapproval, but Jay tells Phil he deserves it and impulsively presses purchase. Phil responds by knocking the princess castle off of the truck Jay was driving, smashing it to pieces. As it turns out, Claire had already bought Phil a Ms. Pacman as a surprise and Gloria wanted to paint the princess castle to make it pirate themed. Awards day is upon the Dunphy children, which instantly puts Alex on a high; she always wins all the academic trophies. Claire thinks Luke is starting to feel overshadowed by Alex, so endeavors to get him an award of his own, but bribing the principal does not seem to work. Instead, she nudges Scott Wheeler's car, the frontrunner for the award Luke is second in, into a disabled spot. Subsequently Luke wins, but it backfires as it is the "nerd" award and Luke has to endure teasing from all of his friends. Mitch and Cam's upstairs neighbor dies, which brings up another opportunity for the couple to buy the apartment. Cam wants another baby, but is scared to bring it up with Mitch, however Mitch is feeling the exact same way. Cam jumps at the chance to look after Joe to try to encourage a conversation about a baby, which it did, but then Joe began to wreak havoc, destroying almost every nice thing they own. Haley is having to deal with her jerk of a boss, but there is nothing she can do so spends her afternoon making a "standing reservation" for Gavin, which involves standing in a parking spot until he arrives. Naturally Gloria, who was meant to be shopping with Haley, has to do something, so opts for stealing Gavin's beloved orchid. Haley tries to rectify this and almost loses her job, until Gloria steps in again with her Columbian badassery. What did you think of this week's episode? Let me know!
