The news couldn't be better today as the much anticipated play, Harry Potter & The Cursed Child has been officially confirmed as a direct sequel to the original books! It had been speculated that the play, set to officially open in London next July, was to be a prequel to the now classic Harry Potter books. But in a press release author J.K Rowling said, "The story only exists because the right group of people came together with a brilliant idea about how to present Harry Potter on stage. I’m confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way."
The official synopsis of the play is as follows:
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Are you freaking out yet? Because I know I am.
Tickets go on sale at 11AM GMT on October 28th on a first-come, first-served basis. Or you can register to be a priority member to get your tickets before they go on sale to the general public. The play is presented in two parts, with two different shows, so you will need to purchase a ticket for each part.
