MTV's The Hills Faked Fight Scenes: Star Speaks Out

Sometimes reality TV isn’t 100% real. The Hills' star Audrina Patridge confirmed that the hit reality show indeed had a few made-up scenes during its four year run. Patridge, who remained a part of the show for all six seasons, spoke out in an interview with E! News claiming that as the show progressed, she and cast mates – including Kristin Cavallari – often appeared in scenes that were manipulated by producers. “In the beginning, a lot of it was real,” Patridge explained. “As it went on, it was very manipulated and guided and you're kinda put in these scenarios where you would show up and you didn't know what you were in for until you were there, and you wanted to run out but they lock the door on you.” To exemplify the kinds of scenarios the cast was given to act out, Patridge mentioned how she was prompted to fight costar Cavallari before wrapping her filming for the day. “I actually had to leave early for another event, we were there for about three hours and they were like, 'You can't leave until you and Kristin get into a fight,'” she mentioned. The MTV star added: “So I'm like, 'Oh my God, Kristin!' Kristin's like, 'Let's do it.' I'm like, 'OK, c'mon.' It was about Justin [Bobby] and we did it and we got to leave. So, little things like that.” This is not the first instance of The Hills stars coming out about faked scenes on the show. On December 20, Kristin Cavallari appeared on Bethenny and discussed her experience of acting out scripted scenes. “I faked relationships, faked fights. I don't care anymore—I can tell you. At this point, it's been so many years,” Cavallari commented. The costar, who joined the cast in 2009, also mentioned that her previous experience with manipulated scenes on Laguna Beach led her to have the same expectations when coming onto The Hills.
